Step 1:  A draft of an ordinance is introduced before the Planning Commission and a public hearing date is set.  Under Michigan la there are certain notification requirements that must be met in terms of mailings and publications.

Step 1:  A draft of the proposed ordinance is introduced before the Village Council and a public hearing date set.  The Village Charter establishes requirements for publication and notice of the Village Council public hearing.

Step 2:  A public hearing is held.

Step 3:  The Planning Commission makes a recommendation on the draft to the Village Council

Step 2:  A public hearing is held.

Step 4:  The draft is introduced before the Village Council and a public hearing set.  The Village Charter establishes requirements for publication and notice of the Village Council public hearing.

Step 3: The Village Council takes action on the draft.

Step 5:  A public hearing is held.

Step 6:  The Village Council takes action on the draft.

 

Proposed & Recent Ordinances

Ordinance #  Summary Status
2009-02  An ordinance to amend the regulation of signs. The Village Council will be considering this ordinance this spring once all 7 members are present.
2009-03 An amendment to the zoning code to regulate the practice of funneling. Adopted (9/22) - Codification in Process
2009-04 An amendment to the zoning code to modify the regulation of fences. Recommended for adoption by the Planning Commission.  A public hearing was held by the Village Council in September of 2009, after the hearing the Council returned the draft to the Planning Commission for further modifications.
2009-05 An amendment to the zoning code to modify the regulation of accessory structures A public hearing is scheduled for the February 16th Village Council Meeting.
